Given the critical role of work in our lives, one of the most important decisions facing a young person today is the selection of a suitable career.

Never before has it been so important for this decision to be soundly-based and informed, applying principles and knowledge relevant to the 21st century.

The Career and Enterprise course aims to provide all students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them to be enterprising managers of their own career development in a constantly changing digital and global world of work. This learning will be enhanced by access to workplace managers and employers, workplaces, work experiences and workplace learning.

These Career and Enterprise courses are designed to facilitate the achievement of four outcomes:

1. Career & Enterprise concepts – your personal career development, workplace practices, management of your resources

2. Career & Enterprise investigations – collect and analyse information about your career opportunities

3. Career development in a changing world – influence of technologies, and your values and attitudes upon your career opportunities

4. Being enterprising – how to make your career happen

The particular emphases in the two units are as follows, with 1C leading to 1D:

1C – Personal Career Management

*NB: TO GAIN FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, ALL STUDENTS AUTOMATICALLY PARTICIPATE IN WORKPLACE LEARNING 1A/1B (Year 11) and 1C/1D (Year 12), THE PRACTICUM OF C & E, WHEREBY STUDENTS ENGAGE IN ACTUAL WORKPLACES.
